Martinus Nijhoff Prijs 2008 for Birthe Lundsgaard

On 25 November 2008, in the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, the Martinus Nijhoff Prize 2008 will be awarded to the Danish translator Birthe Lundsgaard (Copenhagen, 1948). Lundsgaard translated under the pseudonym ‘Tim Kane’ until 2003. She graduated in English Language and Culture from the Universities of Aarhus and Copenhagen in 1980 and in 1983 she gained a BA in Dutch Language and Culture at the University of Copenhagen. Since 1981 she has translated approximately 100 titles, including 50 from Dutch.
